Warm Shadow sees Nada exploring the cathartic nature of breaking traditional forms as a release for suppressed experiences.

Each piece in this collection was led by the energetic smashing of ceramic plates. In an act of resilience, the artist then throws the broken pieces onto canvas, surrendering to the forces of gravity to place them where they want to be, spontaneous and free.

Acrylic spray paint is then applied to mark the form of each broken piece as it landed. The canvas becomes a place of curiosity and wonder as the artist intuitively uses her brush to apply building layers of paint to create abstract, melodic scenes of movement and interacting shapes. The artist draws a comparison to lying under a cloudy sky and making out forms with the imagination.

Nada orchestrates an interactive exchange with her audience, encouraging them to see new forms through the filter of their own experience. These paintings will represent something new to each individual viewing them in the present, and again in the future as we all evolve and continue to see new things.

Reminiscent to the abstract expressionists of the 40s and 50s, the artistic act of letting go of control allows spontaneity to flow through each piece. No two pieces are the same.

Ultimately this collection is a celebration about creating space to expel what no longer serves us. To look at the world with curiosity and wonder, breaking free of our self imposed barriers, to re-discover our boundless imagination.

Every act of creation is first an act of destruction’ - Pablo Picasso
